Ultrasonic Therapy for Heel Pain

If you have pain and swelling on the back of your foot at your heel bone that continues to cause you trouble after several attempts at conventional treatments, you may have a chronic complication that could benefit from the application of Tenex Health TX ultrasonic therapy. Both Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis can cause severe pain in the heel and they respond well to this type of treatment. It uses high energy pulses of sound over the heel area that enter from outside of the skin and help break down scar tissue and decrease swelling without the need for invasive surgery.

If ultrasound therapy is determined to be right for your condition, it can be done in the office on an outpatient basis. The simple procedure involves applying a conducting gel to the skin which will transmit the sound waves through a probe that is passed over the painful area. Each session takes about 30 minutes to complete and several applications are necessary for total relief of swelling and pain.

Complications from this procedure are minimal, and most patients are able to walk afterward with the assistance of crutches or a cane. Resting the affected foot for a week after the procedure will increase the healing rate.

If you are experiencing heel pain that is hard to treat, see your foot doctor for the proper care.
