Custom Orthotics Can Fix Foot Pain

Custom orthotics can help fix or mitigate the pain of many common foot conditions without the need for surgery. Some people will try the prefabricated shoe inserts that can be found at your local drug store, but others prefer the more profound benefits that are achieved when the inserts are custom molded to your individual foot shape.

Orthotic inserts redistribute and precisely alter the stress and pressure on certain areas of the foot to treat a wide variety of conditions including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, calluses, and foot ulcers. They can also be formulated in conjunction with a computerized gait analysis to align the foot and correct gait abnormalities that adversely impact the knees, hips, and back.

For some patients with advanced foot problems, such as diabetes sufferers, surgery needs to be avoided due to the many possible complications. Special diabetic shoes with additional room for ankle supports and orthotic inserts are an excellent choice for these patients.

Orthotics can also be used to help promote healing and reduce pain after a surgical procedure. Although custom orthotics can be expensive, many patients find them indispensable to the care and health of their feet.
